Robot

Design:

The Monday after the 2008 kickoff at the Ontario Science Center, Team 2056 met after the school day ended to discuss the new game and our soon-to-be-built robot.

We discussed our preferable robot attributes, or the ideal characteristics that we wanted our robot to have, and decided that our ideal robot would be one that could hurdle and be able to place and remove the trackballs from the overpass. (For more information about the game, click here)

After discussing our attributes, we came up with ideas for the manipulation of the trackballs, debating the advantages and pifalls of each.

Our brainchild was a claw and arm a team member nicknamed "The Scorpion" because of its two "pinchers" (the claw) and a "stinger" (the arm itself). The idea for the arm was to create a fixed-base and double jointed arm, able to fold and stretch for much greater versatility.
